Focus Areas Every girl deserves to grow up and flourish as a strong women: independent and in charge of her life. They don’t have to do this alone. SOS Children's Villages is dedicated to, where necessary, supporting girls on their way to adulthood. We make impact through several initiatives that address domestic violence prevention, education, gender equality, and economic empowerment. |
Our key activities include:

- Promoting Access to Quality Education: We ensure that both girls and boys have access to quality education.
- Providing Training and Life Skills: We offer gender-sensitive training and life skills to children and parents in our care, helping them become self-sufficient adults.
- Raising Awareness on Gender-Based Violence: In collaboration with other NGOs, we educate teachers, healthcare providers, and community leaders on preventing and addressing gender-based violence, to keep girls and women safe.
- Advocating Against Child Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation: We actively campaign against child marriage and female genital mutilation. Through conversation and education we reach decisionmakers to transform traditions and get rid of these forms of abuse.

Family Strengthening Programme
In the family strengthening programme we practise a holistic approach. This looks like:
- Children's Rights Clubs in Schools:
- Girls and young women are taught about their rights. Knowing ones rights is knowing when those are violated too.
- They learn to stand up for themselves.
- They are informed about where to seek help when needed.
- Extensive Information on Reproductive Health:
- Parents receive training on their children's rights.
- Efforts are made to prevent domestic violence.
- Gender inequality is addressed.
- Parents are educated on reproductive health and family planning.
